- Greg → Alex: for introducing Trizzle!
- Rob → Jake: for playing his character. Didn't see it coming.
☽ Wishes
- Rob: we should reveal our backstories and be a little more open so we all know what our motivations and goals are.
- Jake: for Klause's forgiveness.
- Will: come back to me.
- Sean: more maps!
- Greg: that my 3d printer wouldn't quit on me.
- Will: good session! good character moments. More of that?
- Azazle recognized Paul as the merchant who sold him mushrooms and put as much distance between them as he could.
- Paul growled at Klause: a critical intimidate.
- Grizzle, with Devon’s help, convinced Paul that the Anchor had been relocated to the Witch King's Library.
- Paul replaced Grizzle's memory of the encounter with a conversation about sandwich construction.
- Paul suggested the group accompany him to the Library to help him find the Anchor.
- Devon convinced him that they would be dead weight.
- Paul left to find the Anchor.
- On the way to the Airship, the group stumbled across Marlowe Shadeweaver.
- He appeared to recognize Devon, but pointedly ignored him initially.
- He talked to Klause about the Pale Flame's growing public impact in Firebell.
- He asked Klause to consider what he would be doing with the Anchor, and whether it was worth the price.
- Klause learned that Devon and Marlowe shared a "checkered" past.
- Klause stole Devon’s scarf while talking to him about Klause.
- Devon learned Marlowe is Klause's mentor, and the tension between them was not subtle.
- The party flew to the Contrivance, where Grizzle went into the temple of the Vessel, Devon kept watch outside, and Eli, Klause, and Azazle met with Keloras.
- As Klause prepared to install the Anchor, Eli critically hit Keloras, killing him.
- Klause tried to tackle Eli, and missed horribly.
- Keloras's head landed in front of Klause.
- Last words: "They stayed too long. They always stayed too long."
- The spiritual detonation annihilated the entire Contrivance, destroyed the airship, killed Captain Tomsley, and killed the entire party whose remains fell into the plane of air as the surge of energy sealed the rift behind them.
- After bickering in the river of souls for a while, the group eventually woke up in freefall in the plane of air.
- They resumed bickering.
- The Indifferent Wind caught the party mid-fall, and Captain Maret Vas offered safe passage to Silt Post in exchange for three days of crew work.
- Klause spent the trip helping out with his eagle-eyed perception. (+4)
- Eli spent the trip helping around the boat with his athletic prowess. (+4)
- Azazle spent the trip helping in the rigging with his acrobatics. (+3)
- Devon at first tried to convince Maret Vas that he was a talented leader (−1), then focused instead on helping motivate the crew with his music. (+2)
- Grizzle… tried. He really did. First day he tried to contribute with Mercantile knowledge — not very helpful (+0). Second day he tried to instigate a fight between two crew members, then failed at lying about it (−2). Third day he tried to help Eli carry stuff, but was mostly underfoot (+0).
- Ultimately, Maret Vas was friendly towards the group. As they approached Silt Post, she offered to run them to a material-plane port herself if her next freight contract takes her that direction. No promises, but she'll check.
- At Silt Post, Trizzle was there.
- "Triggerbrand Salvo!" was heard in the distance.
- I. Getting home from Silt Post
No airship, no Captain Tomsley, no plan. Silt Post is in the Plane of Air. Getting back to the material plane is the problem everything else waits behind.
- II. Klause and Eli
Eli killed Keloras to stop Klause from installing the Anchor. Klause lunged for Eli and missed. Three days on a ship together since. Nobody has said what needs to be said.
- III. Trizzle is at Silt Post
- IV. Maret Vas’s favor
She offered a material-plane port if her next contract goes that way. “No promises.” Party owes her, too.
- V. What does Klause do with the Anchor now?
Eli killed Keloras before the Anchor could be installed. The Contrivance is gone. The Anchor is still on Klause, with no mechanism, no plan, and nowhere to go.
- VI. Paul is still looking for the Anchor
Grizzle and Devon convinced him it was at the Witch King’s Library. Paul will eventually find out it wasn’t.
- VII. Marlowe Shadeweaver and Devon’s history
Marlowe is Klause’s mentor. He pointedly did not acknowledge Devon. Devon addressed it anyway. Marlowe forgave him. Klause now knows Devon has history with Marlowe. Devon knows Marlowe trained Klause. Nobody has talked about what that means.
Loose Ends the GM Is Tracking
- Paul traveling to the Witch King’s Library on false info. Will find out it wasn’t there.
- Tomsley dead; the party owes Ben an explanation for his contracted captain and ship.
