Merchant's Guild

The umbrella organization governing commerce in Firebell, with members in every district

The Merchant’s Guild is the umbrella organization governing commerce in Firebell. Its member businesses span every district: banks, importers, a magic shop, rare goods traders, and the Library. If money changes hands at any meaningful scale in this city, the Guild has a hand in it somewhere.

The Guild doesn’t manufacture or transport. It brokers, finances, and regulates. It sets commerce standards, manages trade licensing, and serves as the most politically connected of Firebell’s economic factions.

Area of Operation

City-wide, with the heaviest concentration in Vivi Square, the merchant district. Guild members operate businesses across all five of Firebell’s districts.

The Library

The Guild controls the public-facing Library in The Point, which shares a complex with the Point Cabal’s Archives. The Guild manages public access and commercial knowledge from that building; the Cabal holds the restricted records. It is an uneasy coexistence.

Key Figures

Belgard Ironhold leads the Guild at the guild level. Kaemol Dol holds the Vivi Square seat on the Firebell Council, the Guild’s representative in city government, though the two roles are distinct.

What They Stand For

The Guild advocates for commercial freedom when it benefits its members and protectionist barriers when it does not. Publicly, they frame everything in terms of stability and prosperity. Their practical interest is in keeping the merchant class in its position at the top of Firebell’s economic hierarchy. The most effective pressure the Guild can apply is collective: withholding services and credit until the Council or rival guilds come to terms.
