The party first heard his name at Ben’s camp in session 14, where Azeah Ilolsen described the threat she and Ben were working against. They saw him directly in session 28, watching from their airship as he landed at the Ethereal Contrivance, polymorphed into humanoid form, and walked inside, then emerged and left before the party descended.
Appearance
In humanoid form he presents as a tall, broad-shouldered man. His skin runs deep brown edging toward black. His eyes are amber, fully lit, with horizontal pupils. He makes no effort to conceal them. His hair is close-cropped and the color of ash. He radiates a noticeable warmth within ten feet. He wears plain, functional clothes, the wardrobe of someone who came to work rather than to be seen.
His true form is that of an ancient magma dragon.
Background
Chiezzem, the Bringer of Death, is an ancient dragon operating in Caviana. He is backing Ivasaar Ulawenys’s conquest of the republic, providing the military and political dominance that has kept the occupation running despite organized resistance.
The party learned from Seraphine Voss’s intelligence (delivered in session 29) that Chiezzem is directly backing the conquest, placing him on the opposite side of the conflict from Ben and his operation.
